Why should organisations implement standards?

Success isn't about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.

Why do organisations implement standards?

bullet

Because it is the smart thing to do!

bullet

Because they'll make more money!

bullet

Because it shows due diligence!

bullet

Because it provides a legal footing when it is most needed!

bullet

Because the owner or manager will have done what can be expected of the reasonable person to do!

Have you been hoping for a system that puts everything in its place and which has a logical place for everything? How would it benefit your organisation if you never misplace files again?

Imagine new employees know exactly what to do and how to do it. When you loose an existing employee you have none of the difficulty of new employees or stand-in employees not knowing what to do or how to do it.

This is indeed possible with our intelligent Integrated Management System. Organisations become much more efficient by working smarter not harder. Supervisors have time to do what they are supposed to do and not not look over the shoulders of workers to see if they know what and how to do what is expected of them.

Talk to us for a demonstration of how the system works. You too can be empowered soon!

Achieving quality is a human endeavour, it requires a commitment from every person in an organisation. However, quality can be achieved through various mechanisms. Central to these are a number of International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) protocols (standards) that set a benchmark for organisations against which they can continuously improve themselves in their quest for perfection.

Following below are descriptions of some of the most common of these standards.

ISO 9001:2008 - Provides organisations with a standard against which to develop a system (QMS) to measure the degree by which it consistently provides a product/s that meets customer and applicable regulatory requirements and to which extent it aims to enhance customer satisfaction. This is achieved through the effective application of the system, including processes for continual improvement of the system and the assurance of conformity to customer and applicable regulatory requirements.

ISO 14001:2004 - Specifies requirements for an environmental management system to enable an organisation to develop and implement a policy and objectives which take into account legal requirements and other requirements to which the organisation subscribes. It also provides information about significant environmental aspects. It applies to those environmental aspects that the organisation identifies as those which it can control and those which it can influence. It does not itself state specific environmental performance criteria.

OHSAS 18001 - Provides organisations with a system (QMS) to measure the degree by which it implements occupational health hazards controls and safe work standards and procedures in the work place as well as controls for measuring the implementation and maintenance of such health and safety work practices and procedures. This is achieved through the effective application of the system, including processes for continual improvement of the system and the assurance of conformity to health and safety and applicable regulatory requirements.

ISO 17025:2005 specifies the general requirements for the competence to carry out tests and/or calibrations, including sampling. It covers testing and calibration performed using standard methods, non-standard methods, and laboratory-developed methods.
